Terminator: Genesis still hapenning no matter how much you shake your head reading this

genesis

If you’re still excited by the prospect of a fifth entry in the Terminator franchise at this point, I’m somewhere between applauding your bravery and questioning your sanity. Much like linked franchise Alien – with which it famously had a comics crossover, along with Predator, Robocop, and Police Academy (probably) – it stands a shaky series of four films on the foundation of James Cameron‘s excellent first two, increasingly losing its way with further entries. The third had some great moments (and an excellent conclusion) marred by some really, really bad ones (“Talk tuh duh haaaand”) and the fourth, in spite of some great action sequences and the presence of Grrrrrrrristian Bale, was a mess overall. Heralding the return of Ahnuld to his signature role, the fifth is rolling towards a 2015 release and the Austrian Oak recently had this to say about it when he spoke to Collider.com:

The way it reads, it has the same feel of Terminator 2.  It’s big.  There’s hardcore action and it has some really great visual effects in there, but not over the top.
Promising enough words, but it is just hype after the disappointing nosedive things took after Judgment Day? Only time will tell.
Some good news though – the cast, including Jai Courtney, Emilia Clarke and Jason Clarke, has been bolstered by the addition of BASHBOOMPOW! favourite J.K. Simmons. Playing a booze-addled detective on the Connor case for some 30 years, it’s always a pleasure to watch this guy work. In fact, we’ll let the man himself show you just how we feel about that.
