STILL PLAYING WII?!! Well, here’s another kick in the teeth for the red-headed stepchild of last-gen consoles.

Nintendo confirmed today that as of May 20th, their (admirably free) online services will completely close. It makes sense I suppose, leaving the only reasons to use yours to be probably what you got it for in the first place (replaying Mario or Zelda games, flailing around on Wii Sports with your friends while drunk or watching Netflix), but it’s the real confirmation that the platform is officially dead.

You can find a full list of affected services here: https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Support/Wii/Setup-amp-Connect/Termination-of-Nintendo-Wi-Fi-Connection/Termination-of-Nintendo-Wi-Fi-Connection-859609.html

RIP, you odd little bastard. You were fun for a bit, and made our parents at least vaguely interested in gaming for an hour at Christmas once.
